this post will be all about my favouritest romantic comedy ever! XD
十七歲天空, or formula 17, stars the absolute CUTEST actor who stole my heart about like, 8 seconds into the show. omg 楊祐寧 is so adorable!! XDD
the show's about this country boy Tien who goes to the city to visit a friend he made online. when the real person doesn't turn out to be the one he imagined, he crashed at a friend's place and had a love at first sight thing with a playboy he met at the bar.
it's a 2004 show, and i watched and forgot about it (because i didn't like the other actor and i didn't think there was chemistry), but as i was telling cheryl (polo), exam periods are the most productive periods of my life, and i basically rewatched my entire gay movie collection this month or so. then i got so excited over formula 17 again i couldn't help squeeing whenever i think of it, which is like when i revise my work, eat dinner, go to the loo etc. critics called it a fresh and fun perspective to the gay romance theme, some people got all huffy because they said it was stereotypical and overly fluffy, and our own government called it 'promoting a gay utopia', in those exact words, which i hope never gets abroad because that is SUCH a tacky expression.
personally i think the show grows on you, because it's just so- happy! it's nice to rewatch over and over, because it's not like the other shows, like Bishonen, Happy Together, Velvet Goldmine, Brokeback etc, which well, i guess have artistic merits and stuff, and deal with serious themes, but tragedy really isn't something i like to put myself through all the time... there's just so much entertainment you can get from people dying. just because it's fun doesn't mean it's bad...
