my losing things habit is kicking in full force again. i thought ever since jc ended i've already cast it behind, but this week has been especially bad. currently i'm typing with the screen looking like the horribly compressed korean dramas that my mum likes to watch (mum: look shi, isn't [insert ugly actor's name] so very handsome?!). i'm not sure, but i think i left my glasses in the school library toilet. don't wonder how i did it.

last month i lost my precous thumbdrive containing my term paper, many gay movies, and a real clear picture of my face. managed to get it back eventually from the usp office, but i imagine the lady at the desk gave me an odd look.

left my shoebag at the library last sunday and was frantic when i found it gone. i told myself, meishi, you're a veteran at this, calm down. you are not handicapped without your shoebag. it's just a shoebag, what important things can you have inside it? and at the same moment i realised that as a person who puts shoebags to unconventional uses, my money, my ezlink card, my credit card, my atm card, basically my entire wallet plus some dirty soggy underwear from training - all inside my shoebag. lost.

but, when i went back, it was peacefully sitting beside a potted plant, and i thank that nobody has a) taken it and got a rude shock from said Underwear and Other Chlorinated Apparels or b) called the bomb disarming squad. it's just a shoebag sitting innocuously beside plastic ferns, but the government is paranoid like that.

then after i got my shoebag back i thought, since i'm back at the library i might as well return the book that i borrowed. and true to Murphy's Law (which is the most true law of the universe: Kepler got displaced by Newton; Newton was overthrown by Einstein; now even Einstein is imperfect with all these new quantum physics whachucallit that disguise their evil Physical Complications by calling themselves names like the String Theory. wtf?) the book was not with me.

now my own library card has been inactivated for like, 2 years already, because i lost a book (which was in my previous shoebag - the fila one that i left on the bus, not the orange one that got eaten by rats. really. eaten by rats.) and was unwilling to pay the fines to activate it. obviously i didn't feel good about losing another book - using my aunt's card no less - so i messaged matthew to see if i left it at the pool. incidentally, the book is called Private Parts (no, it's not what you think it is, it's a book with Singaporean play scripts), so i was extremely troubled in finding a way to phrase basically what was 'matthew, if you're still at the pool can you help me see if i left my private parts there'? it would have been extremely awkward, to say the least.

but it was there, and i got it back. tomorrow i'll go look for my glasses, though how i'm supposed to see them half blind i don't know.
