short day that turned out freaking long because i keep forgetting i have even more things to attend. thought school would end at 2, and can go back to do work, but turned out had BBA Finishing School from 3-6pm. thought could go home, but then had to go see Prof Lee at 6 to beg for essay's deadline extension (got it, at great cost to conscience). on my way there i people i met along the way reminded me that at 6pm i also had USS (university scholars seminar - easy module credits). after the seminar was done, i was already late in meeting hj for supper. ended up at clementi macs bitching about why life and love sucks. crawled home at 2330.
and anyways, this sem's USS has turned out promising so far. today it's Kenneth Paul Tan talking about "the Catherine Lim affair". he showed us the exchange in the papers in 1994 between the government officials and the public and Catherine Lim, and seriously he makes you see things in a new light. maybe because his perspective is interesting; he kept on talking about the PAP's masculinity complex and how LKY metaphorically castrates Goh Chok Tong every chance he gets.
it just felt so good and nostalgic. i missed his lessons. the seminar was so good, there wasn't an applause at the end, it was more like an ovation. the only thing we didn't do was stand up :) managed to talk to him after the seminar, he's being stressed out doing assistant dean work, and is apparently too busy to teach anymore. he said handling graduates is different from handling kids like us, there's so much tension in class.
there was this first class where the students were asked to introduce themselves by nationality in alphabetical order, and when he called the China students, the entire China delegate stood up, and they were like "we would also like to extend an invitation to our countrymen from Taiwan to join us as well." ROFL!!! i thought it was hilarious X)
bought his newly published book and had it signed. i'm such a fan XD
